Our Organization

Establishment

The Chandler Compadres were established in 1980 as a non-profit organization with the sole mission of providing support for East Valley families in need. The group started with fewer than 20 members and now has over 100 active and life members. The Chandler Compadres donate their time, resources, talents and money to help disadvantaged kids in Chandler and the east valley. Compadre members are civic-minded business and community leaders in industries which currently include agriculture, information technology, engineering, grocery, banking, law, advertising, real estate, small business and government.

Membership

The Chandler Compadres consists of a maximum of 40 active members and over 80 life members. Members meet once monthly, and are required to meet yearly financial fundraising goals through a variety of events including Rock the Cause for Kids, the Compadre Golf Classic and the Arizona Charitable Organization Tax Credit Program. Membership in the Chandler Compadres requires an active or life member sponsor and approval by the Compadre board and full membership. The Compadre membership includes notable community members and business leaders including former Chandler Mayor Jim Patterson, Michael Basha of Bashas’ Grocery and John Chapman of Chapman Chevrolet

Leadership

Matt Askland leads the Chandler Compadres as President for the 2024-2025 fiscal year. With a rich history in the Residential Mortgage Lending industry spanning 25 years, Matt currently owns a branch at Envoy Mortgage and holds diverse real estate investments across both the local community and the broader United States.

Raised in Chandler, AZ, Matt’s roots run deep in the area, with his mother, Gloria Askland (formerly Delci), having been born and raised in Chandler with a longstanding family legacy in the area. Family values are paramount to Matt, instilled by his upbringing in Arizona where he learned the significance of family, friends, faith, and maintaining a humble demeanor.

Growing up amidst a backdrop of Family Real Estate, Construction, and Development businesses, Matt has seen his parents & personally have weathered both challenges and successes, understanding the virtues of hard work and perseverance. Since 2014, he has been an active member of the Chandler Compadres, dedicated to elevating the organization and uplifting the community. His passion lies in supporting the youth and their families, embodying a commitment to making a positive impact in Chandler and the surrounding communities.
